There’s a story behind every song I write. I’ll spend weeks, months, researching online and in the field (sometimes literally), taking pictures, borrowing books, soul mining and writing at my kitchen table. When it’s done, each song becomes a little movie in my mind and I wish I could show it on the wall somehow when I play it out.
That’s the inspiration behind Postcards from the Swamp. I wanted to bring the story and the song together. In the six weeks leading up to the CD release at Triad Stage in Greensboro, I published one new chapter, and one new song. Each one is published below, starting with that one hot summer in July in 2012 when I googled for water, and found the Great Dismal Swamp.
