Postcards from the Swamp: The Story Series

A six-song story series about The Great Dismal Swamp in eastern North Carolina.

What if I could create that old LP experience online? Where you’d sit on the floor, open a record jacket, and read the artist’s stories and look through photographs. What if I could create that experience online, using photos and digital vignettes.

In the six weeks leading up to the CD release August 13,  2015 at Triad Stage in Greensboro, I published one new chapter, and one new song on the blog using WordPress and Soundcloud. Delivered each via blog post and email.

The story is published below, starting with chapter 1, when I first found the Great Dismal Swamp that one hot, Greensboro summer when I Googled for a free swimming hole.

A Prologue
Chapter 2 Piece of Coal
Chapter 3 Glass Heels/Steel Heels
Chapter 4 War Angel
Chapter 5 Rocking Cane
Chapter 6 Where’d Your Church Clothes Go
Chapter 7 The Final Postcard
